Science is my absolute favorite subject to teach! I always look forward to this part of our day. Science is all about looking closely at the world around us and asking questions about what we observe. Science is hands-on. Science is asking questions and exploring to find out answers. Science is discovering. Science is FUN!!
So grab some goggles and let's start exploring our natural world!
We will focus on three main areas in science this year ...
Earth Science - This includes learning about the layers of the earth, landforms, and how the earth changes. We will look at slow changes, like erosion & weathering and rapid changes, like volcanoes & earthquakes.
Physical Science - This includes learning about energy, electricity, and matter. We will look at how energy is transferred and how to build both simple and series circuits.
Life Science - This includes learning about ecosystems and how changes can effect the parts of the ecosystem. We will look at both living & nonliving factors and how the interact.
We will also be learning about Ohio Inventors and Ohio Plants & Animals this year.
Throughout the year we will be using the scientific method (Make an observation - Ask a question - Make a hypothesis - Conduct your experiment - Draw conclusions - Report your results) and the 5 E Learning Cycle (Engage - Explore - Explain - Elaborate - Evaluate)
